Matt – Written report was submitted. He discussed priorities among the youth, and their busy scheduling, and trying to get the numbers back up for attendance. He also discussed the upcoming plant sale. He had a mailing of a Youth newsletter, and passed one out to each member of the council, and staff. Neale – Written report submitted. Laura – Written report submitted. Bernadette – April Newsletter articles due by March 20.
BOARD REPORTS INCLUDED: Evangelism – Continuing with directory business. And money raised from Soup Suppers will go towards Thursday’s Table. Properties – The uneven concrete in front of entrance will be dealt with as needed after the frost is up. There is not much that can be done before that. It was also discussed, later in the meeting, getting a few more handicapped parking spaces, and having them marked with the signs. The county will be contacted, and this will be discussed at the next meeting. Again, not much can be done until spring. Congregational Life – People are committed to serving on the committee, but no one has stepped forward to become chairman of the committee. Discussed activating the nominating committee for this. Extended Ministries – Met with Guatemala group. - Discussed forming a board for mission projects. -Would like to have a bake sale on Palm Sunday, but then changed to having one in the near future. But would like a Palm Sunday Bake Sale to become an annual event. The proceeds from the bake sale will go to the food shelf. -Raised concern about handicapped space, and adding posts and signs. Stewardship – Discussed Simply Giving. Will be having a Temple Talk on this subject on April 6. Education – Numerous events in the near future. Educational Volunteer Appreciation Event being held April 14, Mothers Day Event, Family Day at the end of May. – The Hallway in the education wing was painted. (A little Left to complete.) Business Management – No meeting . – Good news. An operating line of credit with a lower interest rate was obtained, and the mortgage rate was also lowered to 6.9%. Worship – Discussed flowers for Easter due date. – The railing behind the baptismal font will be put back into place to help those coming off of the altar. – Wedding coordinators met with the brides of 2008. Thanks Kathy Plante, for all your hard work. – Sign up sheets will be up for readers, ushers, and communion helpers. – Discussed Acolytes, and making sure they are “ready” before they go up the aisle. Want a discussion about maybe having Pastor Craig walk behind the Acolytes in the Procession. – A new baptismal server set was ordered. They will be meeting with the potter.
OLD BUSINESS: Call committee update. A special council meeting was tentatively set up for March 18th at 7:00pm to learn more about the selected candidate, so they can bring this information forward to the congregation.
NEW BUSINESS: Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality will come out in mid-March for congregational review. This is a national issue.
