"Gospel Mass" Worship this Sunday 5/6
About worship at St. Peter's this Sunday, May 6:
Thirty years ago, Robert Ray wrote Gospel Mass. He considered it an experimental work, and it was intended to be a one-time performance. To his surprise, the piece caught on and is still performed by choirs and churches all over the world. The official premiere was in 1979 at the University of Illinois-Urbana, where Ray taught, with a chorus of his students. “There was an incredible response,” Ray recalls.“We performed to jam-packed houses. I was very, very excited. It was the hand of the Almighty. ” (quote from a Houston Chronicle 2009 article)
Worship at 8:30 or 10:45 am
