First Sunday in Lent 3/6

Happy Friday! This Sunday: Join us at 9am in person. You may also join online live on facebook or watch on the website afterwards. Stay for coffee and be social after worship. For joining online, you can find this Sunday's bulletin and other announcements on the website.

This Sunday is the first Sunday in lent:

These forty days called Lent are like no other. It is our opportune time to return to the God who rescues, to receive the gifts of God’s grace, to believe with the heart and confess with the mouth the wonder of God’s love in Jesus, and to resist temptation at every turn. This is no small pilgrimage on which we have just embarked. It is a struggle Jesus knew. It is a struggle Jesus shares. The nearness of the Lord, in bread and wine, water and word, will uphold and sustain us. (sundaysandseasons.com) Thank you to our volunteers and worship leaders for ushering, reading, working in the kitchen, web streaming and to the worship choir for providing special music this Sunday.

Lenten soup suppers will begin next week on the 9th at 5:30pm with worship to follow at 6:15 on Wednesdays through April 6. Our sermon theme is “Shepherd Me O God,” based on a Psalm 23 devotion by Rolf Jacobson. A small monetary donation is appreciated for the supper. All are welcome.

March is Food Share Month. Sunday School/Confirmation kids are encouraged to bring canned food items as a weekly offering. The congregation should also bring items to contribute! We hope to build a pyramid of cans before the end of the month. Items will be delivered to the Northfield CAC.

The Northfield Grief Support Coalition group is meeting at St. Peter's Monday evenings now through April 11 at 6:30 pm in the Fireside Lounge. No registration necessary. Led by Nancy Topp. See the newsletter or brochure for more.

First Communion class is Starting Wednesday, March 16 and will meet weekly through the 6th of April. Class will run from 5:30 to 6:15. If you have a child between Kindergarten and Fifth grade who hasn’t received communion instruction but is ready (or already receiving communion) please register them for the class by contacting Julie (julieklock@northfieldstp.org/507.645.8252x204)
