Sunday 12/19, with holy communion

Sunday, December 19th: Join us at 9am in person. Coffee will be served following the service in the Fellowship Hall. You may also join online live on facebook or on the website afterwards. For worshiping online, you can find this Sunday's bulletin and other announcements on the website. Updated Return to Worship information is also on our website.

This Sunday will feature another one of Advent's favorite traditions: the Sunday School Christmas Program! Hear the good news told through the creativity of our elementary kids, and musicians from the middle school. They've been working hard to put it together. Thank you, parents and others who have helped make this happen! About the 4th Sunday of Advent: Cradle and cross are inextricably connected on the fourth Sunday of Advent. Between a lovely tribute to the little town of Bethlehem and Mary’s magnificent song of praise, the letter to the Hebrews reminds us in no uncertain terms that Christ’s advent is for “the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” It is the kind of tension in which the church always lives as when in holy communion—with high delight—“we proclaim the Lord’s death.”

Also this Sunday the 19th: An Advent service of Peace & Healing, 4pm at St. Peter's. A musical prelude will start at 3:45. This service will provide peace, solace, and anointing. Music will be provided by Richard Collman on Celtic Harp, Randall Ferguson on Guitar, Rose Sorenmann on Cello, and Mary Kay Bougie as Cantor. Pastors David Weeks and Rachel Morey (of Untied Methodist Church) will lead worship. All are welcome. The service will also be available online.

From the volunteers working with the Habitat for Humanity home project (being built for one of our own members) on Arichibald Street: We desperately need people to bring lunch for the amazing men and women who are working on Strand house on Archibald Court. The Strands are members of our congregation so let’s help them. If you have questions you can call Diane Boyum 612-245-2125. Currently there are no volunteers signed up for December. Let this be a Christmas gift to the Strands!

Blessings, St. Peter's Lutheran Staff December Parish Visitor
