Sunday 4/24
This Sunday: Join us at 9 am in person or online live on facebook or watch on the website afterwards. For joining online, have bread/crackers and wine/juice handy for communion. You can find this Sunday's bulletin and other announcements on the website. About the second Sunday of Easter: In spite of all we have heard and all we have seen, it is often hard to believe. Because it is hard to believe, we will invest ourselves in the Easter mystery for fifty days (a week of weeks). Because it is hard to believe, John the evangelist will provide sign after sign celebrating Jesus’ victory over death. Because it is hard to believe, the risen Jesus will return to us again and again in the mystery of holy communion, inviting us to touch and taste his presence, and offering us his peace. (sundaysandseasons.com) Thank you to our worship leaders and the worship band this Sunday!
Our worship service will be slightly shorter than usual. Then at 10am we will gather in the parking lot to kick off the Alleluia! Walk/Run. The three ELCA congregations are partnering for a “moving” worship service (pun intended). We will begin in the parking lot at St. Peter’s at 10:00 with song, prayer, scripture and a brief explanation of our event. People can walk or jog on our designated route to St. John’s, and from there on to Bethel. The entire walk/run is 5K (3 miles). At 11, we will gather in the Bethel sanctuary for holy communion and the conclusion of our service.
Following the service, you are invited to fish tacos (in recognition of Jesus’ resurrection appearance on the beach). A free-will offering will be received for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services. Shuttle service will be available for those desiring to do half the route or to return to St. Peter’s. Details and register HERE (or just show up!)
In addition to walkers/runners, we also need volunteers to help at intersections. A regular morning service will still take place at 9.
A new member class will take place Sundays, May 1 and 8 after the service in the Fireside Room with Pastor David. We will receive new members in worship on Sunday, May 15.
