About worship Sunday 5/9: This Sunday’s image of the life the risen Christ shares with us is the image of friendship. We are called to serve others as Jesus came to serve; but for John’s gospel, the image of servanthood is too hierarchical, too distant, to capture the essence of life with Christ. Friendship captures the love, the joy, the deep mutuality of the relationship into which Christ invites us. The Greeks believed that true friends are willing to die for each other. This is the mutual love of Christian community commanded by Christ and enabled by the Spirit. (sundaysandseasons)
Announcement: The Northfield Ecumenical Women's group (N.E.W.) are not holding a gathering this year, but are still collecting for their cause: Fellowship of the Least Coin, or Church Women United. Please help by contributing- if you've been throwing your loose change into a jar all year, consider giving that amount. Contributions should be sent to St. Peter's and checks should be written to N.E.W. with a note in the memo line of Fellowship of the Least Coin. Shirley Shaft will be collecting for St. Peter's until May 16. Thank you! Easter Season Blessings, St. Peter's Lutheran Staff May Parish Visitor
